BENGALURU: Global AI companies are using Indian data centres to serve customers overseas, not just local users, as delays in securing power and capacity elsewhere push them to spread their computing infrastructure across countries, operators told TOI.“We are already hosting some customers and have contracted large capacities with some of them,” said Sunil Gupta, co-founder, CEO and MD of Yotta Data Services, which operates data centres and rents out AI computing capacity.“We are seeing international AI customers use infrastructure hosted and operated from India to serve workloads beyond the country,” he said.At CtrlS Datacenters, which houses customers’ servers, discussions can begin with a requirement for 20 megawatts of capacity and quickly turn to expanding it to 100MW or more, said founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy. “AI is compressing the time available to respond while increasing the scale we need to build for. Higher power densities and advanced cooling must be planned alongside land, transmission, and future expansion,” he said.
