Vidyut Jammwal is set to make his Hollywood debut in ‘Street Fighter’ (2026), and he believes Indian actors are already making their presence felt in the West. He points to Priyanka Chopra Jonas as one of the artists who cleared the path for Indian talent abroad, having begun her Hollywood journey in 2015 as FBI recruit Alex Parrish in the ABC thriller series ‘Quantico’. In a recent interview, Jammwal talked about how Indian films such as ‘Ramayana: Rise of a Legend’ and ‘Varanasi’ are drawing growing international interest and why he feels the conversation around Indian actors in global cinema has already progressed.
Vidyut Jammwal on Priyanka Chopra: ‘She has already done it for us’
Speaking to Variety India, Vidyut said, “We’ve had people like Priyanka Chopra who’s already done it for us. We have people who’ve already made a mark over there. We’re on the path. It’s for the West to decide if an Indian actor can be a part of their franchise or if an Indian actor wants to go there. It’s quite an open thing. We’re there and there’s nothing more to be done. They know about us. We know about them.”

He further talks about how global perceptions of Indian cinema and its talent are changing, suggesting that Indian actors no longer need to prove they can hold their own in international projects. According to Jammwal, the focus now is less on cracking the West and more on the opportunities that emerge as Indian and global cinema continue to blend. He also points out that ‘Street Fighter’ marks his first Hollywood outing. “It is the first one. I think it was author-backed for me,” he adds.
